An Especially B. A. D. DAY RIDE IN LANCASTER in honor of Anita and Rex Walraven!...

Greetings to all my biker friends:

I am going to be getting back on the scoot on the 21st of May for my second venture out of the garage on my 'brand new' 2003 Harley Ultra Classic with 87K miles on it. Yes, brand new. Thanks to the folks at AV Harley shop for bringing my ride back. This time I will be going out of town (vice around the block) to Lancaster to ride against diabetes in Ron Emard's (President of AV Harley-Davidson) fundraiser to support the American Diabetes Assoc and Rip's BAD Ride.

Joe Perea is assisting from the AV HOG side and is looking for some help to run the Poker Run there in Lancaster. If we have any volunteers to help us it would be GREATLY appreciated. I need a little help here myself in Ridgecrest, just two people to run two stops between Ridgecrest and AV Harley. Or if I can get three people we could run the stop at Coaches in Rosamond for the Ridgecrest and AV fourth card stop. I may have a first volunteer, just need to confirm it.

About 1 in 5 people are affected in some way by diabetes, over 8% of our population has diabetes, and diabetes is the leading cause of lower extremity amputation. Being a type 1 diabetic I am so grateful to God for keeping my leg with me after last years accident. This is not a fun disease and being a type 1 diabetic for over 25 years has not held me back from the things I love. One of those being riding motorcycles. God has granted me the ability to keep riding to show people that things like this can be overcome. Ask me and I will tell ya.

If you can help, that is Awesome. If you can participate, that is great. If you can't ride (or drive) with us on this run that's OK too. And if you still want to help fight diabetes, here is a link to my personal web page in support of Rip's BAD Ride you can donate to:

I look forward to seeing you all out there on the roads.

Rex
