Teri, Bill, Judy and I left Ridgecrest around 11'ish AM
... instead of waiting for Wade's 3:05 PM leave time.
This put us at Tobin James Winery ... a few miles
east of Paso Robles ... around 3:15'ish.

We were greated by a female and male pair of Rescue Wolves
and their cute handlers
The Tobin James masonary work in their Pergola amazes me
... and it's a must-stop to appreciate
This is a hand gesture Judy often uses when tasting
something new -- cracker ... chocolate ... what ... ?
It looks like Teri is about to try it too.
Majestic ... !
I think Wade chose both our Paso Robles and Pacific Grove
lodging by entering our needs into hotels.com.
It seems that with a large enough group ... hotels.com
puts a human in the loop to find good deals.
Wade hit the jackpot with both.
Tomorrow morning ... we'll look down on our breakfast HOGs
Now it was wine and cheese time
We ate dinner at a decent time
Wade's crew arriving at the Hampton Inn around 7:30ish PM
... just as we were returning from Chili's

Friday morning ... the 27th ... and we're off to the Monterey area ... !
In the morning ... I peeked out our window
... to see Bland enjoying his morning jacuzzi ... !
Sure enough ... come breakfast ... there's our HOG crew ... !
Wade explains his planned ride from Paso Robles to the Monterey area
Gorgeous country ... wonderful ride
Our destination and lodging for the next two nights:
Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages
1150 Lighthouse Ave.
Pacific Grove, CA
(800) 858-1249
What a great find ... !

Yes ... the Lighthouse Lodge is multi-level ... in the coolest ways ... !
On our way to the Aquarium and Canery Row ... !

Lunch ... !

And who wouldn't like this attention ... ?

If we got to use half the wonderful pictures that Judy and Teri take
... there'd be no space on our website ... !
The Lighthouse Lodge is multi-level
... and old school wood and masonry is the best of ways ... !
To think ... this is a plant ... !

Judy and Vicki ... having a good time

Wine and cheese at the Lighthouse Lodge dinning room
... before re-grouping at the fire pit for the evening ... !
Small Blacktail deer have the run of the area

This convinced Judy and me to install a firepit
... as an addition to our back yard
As big as this young fellow is at the adjacent firepit
... our HOGs posed no threat to their amorous attentions.
Not only that ... he was kind enough to take our picture ... !

Ms. Wyoming is ... Billee ... !
And this is Ms. Paula ... ! ;)

Saturday the 29th ... and we're off for our lunch ride ... !

This was to be a "Knucklehead" day for some of us (mostly my fault too).

And if you find this "Knucklehead" narrative senseless
... please just enjoy the pictures ... Okay ... ?

We were riding to lunch at:
Nepenthe the Phoenix Shop:Cafe Kevch
No ... I didn't fully catch the restaurant name as Wade described it
... nor did I see their sign deep in their restaurant driveway ... !
I recall Wade saying it was 30 to 40 miles south
... and we'd get there around 11:30'ish

Off we went ... like we had better sense
Here are our 3 trikes in a row:
Don's, Denise and Chuck's and Barb's

Wade planned to visit the Point Lobos State Reserve
... but the long line of vehicles changed his mind.
But later ... when the time would come ... I didn't subtact whatever time
we would have spent at the Reserve
from our 11:30ish arrival time at the restaurant.

See my "Kucklehead" Harley t-shirt ... ?
This is where things began to go wrong

Briefly: Judy keeps "suggesting" to me ... that we need a trike.
So since Don was riding just behind us
... I asked him if he'd mind if Judy rode with him to the restaurant.

I was the 3rd bike after Don's trike
... which turned out to be a slow group.
Judy and Don's trike disappeared ahead of us in no time
... and we quickly lost Bluetooth headset communications

Judy's pics (from Don's trike) show their first
group pulling off at the restaurant
... with the restaurant sign buried deep enough in the driveway
that my group of 2 trikes and 2 bikes missed it.
We sailed past the restaurant without a clue ... !

Judy's group chose to park on the upper level ... off the highway
... leaving no bikes visible from the highway.
So we observantly-challenged ones ... sailed right past the restaurant.

Teri and Bill ... and Debbie and Tracy
... also passed the restaurant entrance
... but caught the sign deep up the driveway in time to stop
and turn around ... !

Meanwhile ... our slow 2nd group ... that missed the restaurant
... rode on another 30 miles to the Whale Watcher's Cafe
before giving up around noon ... close enough to Wade's 11:30 AM
... but not if I had subtracted time from bypassing the Reserve.
(see 3 pics below).

To their credit ... Denise and Chuck were smart enough to turn around
... when they reached the point-of-no-return on gas.
And ... by then ... the first group had the presense of mind
to park a bike out on the highway
... so Denise and Chuck saw it on their return.

So ... Paula and Ben, Judy and John and I
ate at the Whale Watcher's Cafe

We pick up the story of the first group ... leaving their restaurant
... and enjoying a nice ride around the Monterey peninsula
... while we bushwhacked our way back to the Lighthouse Lodge.

Just a reminder: This is Judy ... taking pictures off Don's Trike ... !

Salinas Harley-Davidson

... and home ... !
Teri was nice enough to bring me something
from the Harley shop ... ;)
Oh SHIT ... it's just the necklace that Judy bought ... ! :(

Magnificent critter ... !
Firepit time ... !

Most of the group left for home on Sunday morning.
Barb and Stan and Judy and I opted to ride to Ragged Point
... for the day ... and return home Monday.
(Here's a short YouTube video of Barb and Stan
... confronting an ocean breaker riding to Ragged Point: Go ... !)
