A

|
Son

|
We'll
return to ride the Sugar Pine Railroad this evening... |
|
At
the park entrance... |
|
Parking
at Mariposa Grove... |
|
Welcomed
by a small doe and a buck!... We got video too!... |
|
Pick
your language for the head-sets that report the Mariposa Grove history... |
|
The
Fallen Monarch Sequoia Tree...very resistent to decay. There are pictures 100 years old of mounted cavalry having their pictures taken here. |

Don
and Judy, Dennis and Debbie:
I couldn't resist this. I copied your photo from
offline with Dennis I just think this is pretty neat - about 100
years years in between Nice to see the group. Nice to see Dwight and
his son! Say 'Hi' to In Christ, ================================================= Close enough Charlotte and John! In fact...Judy found that the original Drive Through Tree in Yosemite stood for 88 years...before it fell in a winter storm in 1968-69. www.nps.gov:80/archive/seki/2trees.htm How wonderful that you two take the time to keep in close touch...and that we share! |
|
Approaching
Glacier Point...with Half Dome in the distance |

|
Back to Oakhurst...to get ready for
the Sugar Pine Railroad |
|
This
is how it happened... |
|
Lisa
and Jeff and their fancy-moulded wind screen... |
|
Vikki
and Dwight were in the lead...and made a premature turn! So we waited for a while for them to catch up... but they never did.... |
|
When
Vikki and Dwight did catch up...after some time... Vikki looked a bit mussed up... like they'd taken advantage of their alone time |
|
This
engine was built in 1928. It's maintained by approximately 20 people with various needed skills.... |
|
Of
course...Judy picked the burnt offering for her meat... |
|
All
aboard...for the 20 minute ride to the campfire and sing-a-long... |
|
A
wonderful end to day two at Yosemite... |
