Breakfast at The Apple Shed and...

Wine Tasting at the Souza Family Vineyard
Tehachapi, CA
6 August 2011

(Souza Family Vineyard)

Tuscany in Tehachapi
Souza Family Vineyards

Stan Jr. (Mike) is Road Captain
Anne and Bobby spend a lot of time in Las Vegas
with their daughter, Claire, a professional chef

Stan, Barb, Amy and Scott.
Amy and Scott woke up to a rear flat tire on their bike...
so are driving their cage!

Mike's temporarily out of riding commission...
with shoulder surgery

The roads belong to lots of folks "recreationing"!

Garlock road was a mess of washed sand in places...
from recent flash flooding

Absolutely gorgeous Earth enroute....

Exit HWY 58 at Tehachapi

A gorgeous morning...arriving at The Apple Shed for breakfast

Mike and Stan

The Apple Shed staff get us seated in no time

Bobby and Anne

Stella's very close friend Leslie...both from Tehachapi...
with a couple of decades of tall stories to share
(but they won't "tell all")!

Unfortunately...we forgot to take food pictures...
before most folks chowed down! sigh

Amy and Judy...being Amy and Judy!...
Some had other obligations after breakfast...
and chose not to continue on to the Souza Family Vineyard

Marty got off duty at 3 AM...
so only got a couple of hours sleep...
before our breakfast ride.
So he rode home after breakfast...
without seeing the Souza Family Vineyard...
which he'll visit on another day

Tehachapi is a model community of historical preservation...
think Linda Rhonstat and "Willing"!...

Amy and Scott...

West of the town of Tehachapi...
toward Stallion Springs...
find The Souza Family Vineyard

The last leg of our trip is a very well-kept dirt road...
maybe 1/2 mile or so....

Barb and Stan are waiting

Plenty of good parking

John and Amy...and Scott's elbow

The shopping is intimate and terrific...
we immediately see items we "need"!

And the staff is terrific too...
and literally treat us as family

The wine tasting is nearby...
right next to the shopping

Today's choices for wine tasting on display

$5 gets you a red glass for tasting...but you can't take it home...
$8 gets you a black glass...you can take home

Left-to-right: Barb's elbow, Stan, John,...
David, Pat, Amy...Judy

Guess who?

Bob calls for help...granddaughter?

John...Pat and David relax

Mike, Pat, John and David...
Mike and Stan pre-rode this ride -- good job guys!

Judy and Barb relax

...as do Barb and Stan

We'll be back...individually...and as a RAG HOG Group!...
